Bob Marley & The Wailers recorded virtually acapella spiritual Selassie Is The Chapel in 1968. Its lyrics, inspired by Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie’s trip to Jamaica two years previously, were written by Mortimer Planno, a Cuban born drummer and activist who was instrumental in Marley’s conversion to Rastafarianism.
