The Beatles formative years playing the clubs and bars of Hamburg’s notorious Reeperbahn district are being celebrated in a special two-day multimedia festival next month.

Taking place between June 30 and July 1 in Hamburg, Come Together Experience is an exploration of all things Fabs, featuring live performances, talks, film screenings and more in venues across the dockside St Pauli district, including many of the clubs and bars The Beatles originally played in the early 60s.

Some of the shows featured include a special performance from John Lennon/David Bowie guitarist Earl Slick performing songs from Double Fantasy and 1984’s posthumous Milk And Honey LP.

Queens psych rock outfit Blac Rabbit will play Rubber Soul in its entirety, Scotland’s Them Beatles will recreate Please Please Me and Bambi Kino, featuring Guided By Voices/Nada Surf guitarist Doug Gillard, will perform some of The Beatles’ original Hamburg setlists. Plus, there will be a full live recreations of 1973 compilations the red and blue albums by musicians overseen by German musician and composer Nikko Weidemann and a special playback of late 80s/early 90s documentary series The Lennon Lost Tapes featuring unreleased recordings and songs from Lennon’s personal archives.
