Now in its fifth year, the award-winning Black Deer Festival is one of the UK’s largest Americana festivals, bringing together artists from across folk, country, roots, blues, gospel, bluegrass and more.

Previous acts to have performed include Wilco, Van Morrison, The Waterboys, Richard Hawley, The Pretenders, Hiss Golden Messenger, Steve Earl, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Bonnie Raitt.

This year, The Old Grey Whistle Test’s ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris is curating and presenting a special on-site version of his intimate Under The Apple Tree sessions, featuring John J Presley, Kezia Gill & Friends, Bird, Johnny Morgan and more.

In addition to the music on offer, Black Deer Festival also celebrates the cultural heritage of Americana. Festival goers can enjoy a display of custom-built motorcycles, attend daily ‘gospel brunches’, shop artisan goods, sample a wide selection of craft beer and take part in demonstrations on butchery, foraging and knife-making. The soul food of the American South is represented across a wide range of stalls with industry leading chefs presenting expert demonstrations of low and slow BBQ and live fire cooking.
